Under the supervision of the Director: Pharmacy Finance, Business Intelligence, and Analytics, the 340B Specialist performs a variety of advanced and routine duties related to the ongoing compliance and operations of the Duke University Hospital (DUH) 340B program. Approximately 60% of the 340B Specialist’s time will be spent optimizing the Verity v340B software, including but not limited to NDC and unknown item mapping, reviewing multipliers and ensuring proper dataflow and transfer between various information systems. This work with include routine collaboration with Verity account manager(s) and various pharmacy department stakeholders that utilize the 340B program, as well as maintaining an IT knowledge base and relationships with the Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) team. The remainder of the time will include leading internal and external audit work to ensure program compliance in accordance with internal policies and federal regulations as well as participation on the 340B Oversight Committee. The 340B Specialist is also expected to maintain sufficient 340B program knowledge and to participate in local and national networking meetings, calls and discussion in order to stay abreast of the transforming 340B landscape. The position will primarily be a day shift position.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Specific duties include (but are not limited to):
Optimize mixed-use and retail pharmacy Verity v340B software by reporting to the Director: Pharmacy Finance, Business Intelligence, and Analytics. Verity v340B activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Mapping unknown and custom NDCs
Performing WAC split analyses
Monitoring for appropriate transfer of files from DUH to Verity software
Perform audit activities per the DUH 340B Audit Plan.
Serve as a subject matter expert and project leader for specific 340B program activities.
Monitor quarterly price changes.
Develop a thorough understanding of the Verity system and the functions to be performed. Educate others involved in the purchasing process to ensure proper operation and compliance.
Develop a thorough understanding of the DUH 340B program. Strive to consistently improve the overall efficiency, value, and integrity of the DUH 3 40B program.
Develop and foster working relationships with other internal working counterparts at DUH (IT, finance, compliance, and others) to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve program efficiency and promote program compliance. Provide data, information, and reports as needed for other business units within DUH.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree program
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent. Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills; data collection and analysis; organizational skills; Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel, Access and Tableau. Competency with Maestro Care and Omnicell WorkflowRx software.
