What You'll Do: Impact & Leadership
This pivotal role is a 60% Direct Patient Care / 40% Administrative Leadership split, offering the best of both worlds:
System-Wide Stewardship: Serve as the Pharmacist Co-Chair of the System Antimicrobial Utilization & Stewardship Subcommittee (AUSS), driving standardization of formulary and antimicrobial restrictions across the health system.
Clinical Excellence: Provide advanced infectious disease pharmacotherapy services, collaborating closely with ID physicians, microbiology, and infection prevention teams to optimize antimicrobial use and directly improve patient outcomes.
Epic Transition Key Player: Play a vital, hands-on role in the ongoing Epic EHR transition to ensure the successful integration of antimicrobial stewardship workflows.
Team Development & Mentorship: Directly supervise antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist(s) and provide high-level mentorship to PGY1/PGY2 residents during their Infectious Disease rotations.
Administrative Oversight: Lead stewardship initiatives, manage staff development, and ensure health system alignment through focused leadership team meetings.
Core Responsibilities Include:
Direct patient care activities (60%) combined with administrative leadership (40%).
Leading formulary and antimicrobial restriction standardization efforts.
Participation in the clinical and/or administrative on-call schedule.
Key Committee Involvement: Attending the Bi-weekly Leadership Team Meeting and the Monthly Health System Pharmacy Executive Leadership Team.
Collaboration: 1:1 meetings with direct reports, site-specific and system-wide team meetings.
Scheduling & HR: Management of time-off requests, time-card approvals (WFM Responsibilities), and development of schedules, including resident and student rotations.
Required Staffing: Primarily Dayshift except every 6th weekend. Holiday coverage is one major and one minor holiday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy required
Current license to practice pharmacy in the state of Pennsylvania required
ASHP accredited PGY 1 Pharmacy residency or 3 years clinical experience required
Minimum three years of experience in a clinical pharmacy practice required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Effective communication skills and critical thinking skills required
Ability to teach, coach and mentor required
Ability to organize and plan required
Ability to relate to and collaborate professionally with patients and staff required.
