Additional Information About the Role

Barnes Jewish Hospital is seeking a Critical Care Pharmacy Supervisor to assist the Pharmacy Director with overseeing clinical, educational, drug use policy and research activities of the department. Provides oversight to the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate drug therapy to achieve optimal cost-effective patient outcomes.

Schedule

M-F 730am-4PM. Occasional weekend responsibility, cycle through on call about 2x a year, holiday 3-4 times a year.

 

Candidate Parameters:

  • 2 years residency training required in critical care.
  • Education: Doctorate – Pharmacy
  • Experience: 2-5 years, Background in hospital or academic research setting.
  • Pharmacy organization – ACCP.com career center, ASHP.org career farm pages
  • Licenses & Certifications: RPH/MTS
  • Need to have a PGY2 residency in critical care and some experience in working within a critical care setting. 
  • Leadership experience preferred but not required if seasoned critical care pharmacy specialist

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages, evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of the group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Assess the overall status of the patient’s health condition and evaluates medication profile for optimal patient outcomes. Monitors therapy and goals of care. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and communicates activities related to PI, clinical effectives, DUE, drug shortage management and HSO/BJC committees.
  • Coordinates education and training of pharmacy staff, residents/students and serves as role model and mentor.
  • Leads implementation of targeted drug cost reduction programs and ongoing analysis to ensure sustainability.
