  • Full-time Day Shift
  • Monday - Friday (8 AM - 5 PM)
  • South County Location
  • Responsibilities are assisting individuals with severe mental illnesses apply for disability benefits, food stamps, Medicaid, and serving as a resource on Entitlement programs
  • Most applications are completed over the phone, though some client appointments are in person
  • A typical day is conducting scheduled client appointments
  • The population we serve can be difficult due to mental health symptoms and client needs
  • The ideal candidate will have good oral and written communication skills, be good at problem solving, have great customer service skills and experience working with difficult personalities

Overview

BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.

 

 


Role Purpose

To facilitate linkage and coordination with the Social Security Administration FSD, Medicare and Community Action.


Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the process of applying for social security, Medicaid, food stamps,  or entitlement benefits for clients.
  • Complete all applications and work closely with disability determinations, Family Support Division, medical records, and clinical staff to insure timely determination on claims submitted.
  • Identifies barriers that exist with present processes and assist with developing different processes that will eliminate some of the barriers of access and expedited decisions.
  • Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of experience
