We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who not only have the knowledge and experience to create dynamic educational and technical assistance curriculum materials, tools, and resources to advance health equity, but who also have the lived experience to relate to racial and ethnic communities, patients, and program participants in a culturally relevant and meaningful manner.

What You Will Do

We are a national organization that helps health care providers, Medicaid managed care organizations, and state Medicaid agencies advance health equity for patients and communities by giving them the tools they need to create organizational cultures focused on diversity, inclusion, and equity and to transform their healthcare delivery and payment models to reduce and eliminate inequities in health and healthcare.

You will help us to this by managing technical assistance components of the Advancing Health Equity Program, which includes a learning collaborative and for state-based teams comprised of state Medicaid agencies, Medicaid managed care plans, and health care organizations/systems. You will work with us to tailor the consultation services to each of the teams by creating interactive in-person and web-based trainings covering a myriad of topics and developing and delivering implementation tools and resources. You will hold key working relationships with our Learning Collaborative team members throughout the nation and coordinate our efforts to support them.

We are working to directly focus on systemic racism and other forms of systemic oppression and discrimination in our Advancing Health Equity: Leading Care, Payment, Systems Transformation (“AHE”) curriculum and technical assistance tools and resources. Our Roadmap to Advance Health Equity curriculum teaches our participants (health care provider organizations, Medicaid Managed Care Organizations, and state Medicaid Agencies) the operational changes that the health system can make (e.g., transforming health care delivery, designing new payment models), but also focuses on how health care organizations can increase their chances of success by developing internal cultures focused on equity.

We are looking someone experienced in health or health services research or healthcare quality improvement and technical assistance programming and delivery.

About This Role

You will not be responsible for doing this alone. In addition to our core team at the University of Chicago you will work closely with our partner organizations experienced in facilitating organizational culture change to advance health equity.

You will help us accomplish our goals by:

*Helping us incorporate a variety of theories and approaches, including critical consciousness, critical pedagogy, intersectionality, and relational cultural theory into our overall program approach and our curriculum, tools, and resources.

*Partnering in the creation and delivery of technical assistance programming and training to:
-Engage Learning Collaborative participants where they are in terms of their capacity and abilities in healthcare quality improvement activities designed specifically to address health and healthcare inequities.
-Help organization leaders identify and determine how to design and implement actions to change how healthcare is delivered and paid-for, specifically to advance health equity.

*Leading content development for AHE program conferences and meetings.

*Utilizing your impeccable problem-solving and analytic skills to help teams diagnose why health and healthcare inequities are occurring in their organizations and communities and then using that information to redesign care and payment models to reduce and eliminate the inequities.

Your Impact
We are looking for someone with the skills to:

*Facilitate the process by which program participants encounter the new knowledge needed to advance organizational equity and diversity and act as change agents to identify the impacts of systemic racism and intervene to reduce them

*Navigate different perspectives

*Develop engaging workshops, conference sessions, and other learning experiences (both virtual and eventually in-person)

*Train others using creative and engaging formats to reach multiple audience types

*Use compelling narratives and stories to help the learning process

*Understand interpersonal, societal and institutional dynamics of oppression

*Participate in program evaluation as well as writing and publishing academic papers and presentations

We Want You to Have Life-Work Balance

You will get to work on a dynamic team with co-workers based in Chicago, Washington DC, Princeton and Hamilton, NJ as well as hospitals, clinics, health plans, and state Medicaid agencies around the country. We currently work remote full-time due to the pandemic, except for occasional in-person team gatherings. Team members have the option to work onsite at the University of Chicago as much as they wish. The University of Chicago offers a generous benefits package and a work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and equity overall and within our division.

  • Relevant health or health services research or technical assistance delivery experience (consultation or support).
  • Experience with or knowledge of health care research and project management.
  • Relevant experience providing consultation services and technical assistance programming to state Medicaid agencies, Medicaid managed care organizations, and/or health care delivery organizations.
  • Ability, with experience, to interact effectively with at least one subset of the populations and communities living with health inequities and systemic oppression and discrimination (e.g., racism, heterosexism).
  • Working knowledge of health and health care equity.
