Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, safety and infection control standards and any quality improvement programs.  Maintain department records as requested by supervisor, department director and/or other regulatory agencies
  • Under the direction of the Cardiology Provider(s) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Cardiac Stress Clinic to include: patient intake evaluations, chart evaluation for proper appointment placement and assisting with the smooth and diligent operation of the Cardiac Stress Clinic and its patient population
  • Overseeing all procedures offered by the Cardiac Stress Clinic, to include, stress and rest echo, monitors, nuclear medicine imaging procedures, and all vascular procedures
  • Evaluates all patients scheduled to receive cardiac stress testing to include medical history, vital signs, allergies and psycho-social status
  • Educates patients and family members on specified procedures for rationale, anticipated course, potential side effects and discharge instructions
  • Competent with 12-lead EKG interpretation with proper interventions as needed. Is able to recognize and administer emergency care in the event of complication
  • Performs cardiac stress testing and/or treadmill tests according to protocol
  • Supports the day to day IV infusion needs for the Cardiac Stress Clinic, to include administration of echocardiography contrast agents and/or nuclear medicine agents and appropriate cardiac medications as indicated
  • Oversees and maintains the cardiac monitor program.  Makes decision-based reason (diagnosis) for monitor, rhythm and patient symptoms. Capable to recognize rhythm abnormalities and proceeds with such abnormalities according to protocol
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.  Manages emergency equipment for unit. Checks expiration on all medications and supplies according to unit frequency. Checks presence and functionality of equipment on a daily basis
  • Maintains knowledge of all monitors, pumps and equipment used by unit
  • Communicates with patients, co-workers, physicians and supervisors in a professional manner. Is able to express ideas.  Is sensitive to the needs of both internal and external customers.  Strives to support and facilitate the Cardiac Stress Clinic with other care sites and departments for the betterment of the patient’s experience.  Maintains all patient information in confidence

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Ability to maintain current Colorado State Registered Nurse License and CPR certification
  • ACLS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in direct cardiac care with emphasis on EKG interpretation and rhythm abnormalities
  • Ability to make intelligent, independent decisions, initiating appropriate action and willingly to take responsibility
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and multi-task under pressure
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of medical instructions in written, oral, diagram or Schedule form and deal with abstract and concrete variables

Colorado Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $26.15 to $46.63.
