You Will Be Responsible For:
Processes patient prescriptions using computer software making sure for completeness of all required items (i.e. diluents, supplies).
Assists in obtaining prior authorization from pharmacy benefit manager to get medications authorized.
Assists in helping patients find copay assistance programs to reduce drug costs.
Handles patient and physician phone calls in a timely and courteous manner.
Registers and updates patient information as needed to maintain correct profiles.
Documents in patient profile to provide complete record of interactions for all team members.
Clarifies prescriptions within registered pharmacy technician scope of practice to obtain complete information.
Maintains understanding of the AdventHealth prescription plan and specialty component and associated copays.
Refers limited distribution items to the proper contracted specialty pharmacy.
Maintains working appointment calendar to ensure medication is delivered in a timely fashion.
Request items be special ordered into inventory as needed on a per patient basis.
Communicates with patients and doctors as needed to set up shipping and payment of medications., answers all questions within registered pharmacy technician scope of practice guidelines.
Follows up on all active prescriptions to ensure process is completed in a timely fashion to provide medication to patients.
Communicates with other members of the team and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
What You Will Need:
High school diploma or equivalent.
2 years retail, hospital or mail-order pharmacy setting or equivalent (i.e enrolled in ACPE Accredited Pharmacy School)
Experience with retail prescription plans and secondary insurance providers (copay assistance).
A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; or enrolled in a pharmacy technician training program; or a Florida Pharmacy Intern License. Must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration
This position answers and triages inbound phone calls to assist patients and transfer them to the appropriate department. The Specialty Customer Service technician will also serve as backup to the Specialty Processing Technicians in assisting the pharmacist in processing, dispensing, and shipping preparation of specialty medications so that patients receive safe, consistent, and timely care. This position also assists with maintaining correct inventory and documentation of patient interactions. Works under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only legally be performed by a registered pharmacist.
