The primary responsibility of the Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Technician is to provide administrative, clerical, and basic clinical support to the pharmacist managed Oral Chemotherapy Clinic. Ability to independently gather, evaluate, and analyze data of patients on oral chemo with minimal toxicity. Conducts patient interviews, including medication history, adherence, effectiveness, needs for medication refills and time to return to lab for patients tolerating therapy. Routinely reviews lab results and alerts Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialists with any abnormal lab values for evaluation and any patients who went to lab outside their scheduled day. Educates patients on the proper use and care of their medications through day-to-day personal interactions with the patients. Adjusts communication based on age and developmental consideration Accurately assesses and documents patient comprehension. Documents all patient specific clinical decisions (in consultation with the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist) in the patient's electronic record. Prioritizes operational and assigned clinical functions to provide the highest quality of patient care. Participates in QA/QI processes and programs as assigned. Provides supplemental reinforcement education for patients concerning Oral Chemotherapy Clinic operational policies or need for medication and laboratory appointment compliance. Understands and applies local and national oral chemotherapy policies and procedures. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0:80AM-4:30PM Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
