This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Neurologists are highly trained clinicians capable of diagnosing complex conditions through detailed history and physical examination, including testing of mental status, vision, speech, strength, sensation, coordination, reflexes, and gait. Even as medicine becomes more dependent on technology, the neurological exam will remain a critical component of the patient evaluation. He/She should have the capability to perform computed tomography (CT) or computer assisted tomography (CAT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies and electromyography (NCS/EMG) and lumbar puncture (LP) for cerebral spinal fluid analysis. Establish good communication skills and counsel patients in order to help them better understand their course of treatment. In addition to providing medical care, the Neurologist will work with a skilled team of professionals such as nurses, technicians and surgeons in order to ensure successful completion of required treatment for patients.
