Must have knowledge of Pharmacy Service, the Medical Center, VHA, and federal/state regulations/policies/procedures that affect Pharmacy Services; VHA regulations influencing Pharmacy Service and the Medical Center approved drugs in order to complete assignments accurately and to properly respond to questions form the medical Center staff, patients, and/or caregivers. Knowledge of trending and analysis necessary to ensure that problems associated with fraud, waste, or abuse are reported. Demonstrate ability to accurately navigate and utilize VistA, CPRS and any other patient database necessary to perform the job Interpret prescriptions and other orders to determine proper disposition in accordance with established procedures. Possess an advanced technical knowledge of drug and medication brand names, generic/chemical names, general and special storage requirements, expiration date requirements, manufacturer/distributor sources, dosage forms, basic pharmaceutical calculations, applicable systems of weights and measures and medical terminology to interpret provider's orders and verify correct drug, dosage form, strength and dose is prepared and or distributed. Participate in the preparation of a prescription order by verifying the correct patient, appropriateness of the label, selecting the proper medication, selection the correct strength, counting/pouring the intended quantity, packing the medication appropriately, and completing all necessary filling documentation. Understands and navigates basic automation package functions. Fill canisters/cells with medication, and input appropriate information necessary to allow audit trail of the medications placed into the automation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; 9:00 am - 5:30 pm; 10:30 am - 7:00 pm or any shift to meet the needs of the service. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
