Overview

Leverage a variety of data sources including electronic medical records, claims, dispense records, etc. to provide valuable and actionable information to Fairview Pharmacy Services (FPS). Analyses will help to inform stakeholders on how FPS activities and initiatives provide value to our patients and to the organization by increasing quality and safety, decreasing costs, and/or increasing patient & provider satisfaction. To this end, the Senior Outcomes Consulting Analyst will lead development and completion of highly-complex analyses. Analyses may be designed by the analyst or in partnership with resources throughout FPS. The analyst will regularly be responsible for curating (gathering, cleaning, validating, etc.) the proper data for analyses, as well as providing insight into those data.

Responsibilities/Job Description
  • Lead the development of advanced analytic efforts relating to FPS outcomes of interest
  • Manipulate large sets of medical and pharmacy data to achieve desired results
  • Create multifaceted queries, primarily coding in SAS and SQL (Oracle & MS), that properly leverage multiple table joins and incorporate complex logic requirements
  • Analyze and interpret medical, pharmacy, and benefit data
  • Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Create data visualizations that communicate results and impact of analyses
  • Find creative solutions to the challenges of working with healthcare data
Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum: 4-year college degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, finance, healthcare, or otherwise related field
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in the same

Experience

  • Minimum: 3 years of experience in an analytic position where duties involved both the curation of datasets and analysis thereof
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience as noted above, or 3+ years in an analytic position dealing directly with healthcare and pharmacy data

Required Technical:

  • 2+ years of SAS coding experience must be able to code manually (i.e. applicants whose experience with SAS is limited to point and click interfaces will not be considered)
  • 2+ years of SQL coding experience (any)
  • 2+ years of experience with relational databases
  • Experience leveraging Excel for mathematical functions and data manipulation
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite

Preferred Technical:

  • 4+ years of SAS, SQL, and relational database experience
  • Experience with Oracle SQL Developer & SSMS
  • Experience with MS Power BI
  • Proficiency in other advanced analytic tools/software such as R, Python, etc.

Business:

  • Exhibit basic professionalism (e.g. courtesy, punctuality, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral communications
  • Curiosity beyond data & analytics (i.e. desire to learn more about a variety of topics related to the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries)
  • Ability not only to identify potential problems, but also to generate possible solutions
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in order to make progress and meet timelines on multiple projects
