Under general supervision and according to established procedures, operates, maintains and keeps records of machinery and equipment, to assure constant availability of heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic hot and cold water, medical gases, air, vacuum, electricity and steam for all areas of the hospital, to include maintenance of the facilities and cleaning of all equipment and equipment rooms.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/technical schooling preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: New Mexico Boiler Operator's certification. Valid New Mexico Driver's license and proof of auto insurance required.
EXPERIENCE: Two years minimum boiler operating experience required. Hospital experience preferred.

Hazards include water treatment chemicals, cleaning drains, biocides, high-pressure steam, high voltage electrical equipment and biological hazards while working in other areas of the hospital.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy physical effort. Must be capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs. during installation of pumps, motors, etc. Must be able to climb and work from ladders up to ten feet in height. Because of constant monitoring of equipment, eyesight and hearing must be good.
