Overview

We instituted one of the nations first specialty pharmacy programs, which now serves patients in all 50 states. Our specialty therapy management programs include some of the most difficult conditions to manage: HIV/AIDS, PKU, transplant, hemophilia, hepatitis C, infertility, inflammatory conditions, oncology and lysosomal disorders. Patients taking expensive or self-injected specialty drugs receive their medications safely and on time through programs that utilize personal medication management and monitoring. All therapy programs share three common objectives:

  • To get the best clinical results from the medication regimen
  • To maximize the return on every dollar spent on medications
  • To ensure that patients set and meet their treatment goals

Responsibilities/Job Description

This position provides telephone support to pharmacy patients, providers and pharmacies ensuring that patients are eligible for and receive prescribed medications in an accurate and timely manner via appropriate delivery methods. This includes patient tracking, processing of patient claims, customer service, issue resolution and/or escalation.

Complete intake process for mail order, specialty, transplant and limited distribution pharmacy patients including new patient enrollment, insurance verification, and medication refill and delivery schedule.

Under the direction of the pharmacist, receive prescription/orders from patients, process manually or using the appropriate computer system and protocols in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.

Coordinate ordering, delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested.

Other responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to: back up phone coverage, data collection, reporting, process improvement and maintenance of patient education materials.

Qualifications

Required Experience

One year experience as a pharmacy technician in a call center environment

Required License/Certification/Registration

Registered Technician with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy

Pharmacy certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Other National Pharmacy Technician certification will also be accepted.
