Overview

The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) is responsible for scheduling and re-scheduling patients and may also serve as the primary receptionist for the department/program. This role creates the first impression guests (patients or visitors) through the check-in/-out process and scheduling process. This position interacts closely with patients and the multidisciplinary team in a highly organized and professional manner. Ensures the exceptional patient experience is achieved by displaying effective customer service, problem solving and communication skills in a friendly, thoughtful and empathetic manner. The PSC also performs a variety of clerical functions.

  • This is a casual position covering at any of our 20+ clinics for vacations, LOA's or sick calls.
  • The float staff is trained to cover vacation/sick calls at all 30+ IAM sites throughout the metro area.
  • Hours vary Monday through Friday, hours early as 6AM, and as late as 6PM
  • Must work one 8-hour shift per pay period minimum, can pick up additional shifts as available
Responsibilities/Job Description

Duties include greeting and welcoming patients upon arrival. Scheduling patient visits. Obtaining, verifying and entering insurance and demographic information from patients and entering information into an account maintenance system. Verifying visit in compliance with the insurance contract. Collecting patient co-pays as needed. Maintaining high visibility and availability at entrance and waiting rooms. Providing direction and information and notifying patient care staff of patient arrival.

Qualifications

Must have strong interpersonal and phone skills. Must be self-directed in fulfilling job duties. Would prefer medical office experience.
