Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Analyst is responsible for performing high level research and analysis for decision-making purposes to assist Benefis Pharmacy Leadership in achieving the overall goals, values, and strategic endeavors of the Department. The Pharmacy Analyst will support and maintain the BHS 340B program, Pharmacy Charge Master and assist in development and review of pharmacy budgets and financial performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with the performance of analysis including, but not limited to, cost analysis, utilization analysis, service line analysis, payor mix analysis, statistical analysis, financial analysis, feasibility analysis and productivity analysis.

Collects and validates data from the multiple systems used and ensures the integrity and accuracy of the data/analysis being provided.

Prepares information, provides analysis, and assists with the creation of presentations for pharmacy leaders and various organizational committees.

Assists in the definition and collection of monthly departmental volume statistics, as well as the distribution of monthly pharmacy performance metrics.

Assists with the maintenance of the pharmacy drug dictionaries, cost updates and pharmacy charge masters. Understands and is able to explain the internal functions of the system.

Creates accurate and useful reports through utilization all pharmacy decision support tools.

Analyzes financial, clinical and operational data to identify and quantify variances and opportunities as related to purchasing, formulary and billing of medications across the BHS system.

Prepares specified care line reporting and assists with the preparation of related analysis and commentary.

Supports assigned operational leaders in their understanding and completion of the annual operating budget.

Assists Pharmacy Director with all aspects of implementation, compliance, education, coordination and optimization of BHS 340B program.

Assists pharmacy leadership with a variety of projects, initiatives, and responsibilities as required, including Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Buyer duties as needed.

Effectively prioritizes and balances multiple tasks and activities, thus ensuring that assignments are completed on time.

Is flexible, organized and functions well under stressful situations. Maintains good working relationships within the finance departments and with all other Benefis Health System departments.

Consistently demonstrates initiative and a professional, self-directed approach to department responsibilities and an ability to meet deadlines.

Stays current on developments in healthcare and healthcare regulations through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attendance at professional meetings, conferences or workshops.

Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.

Demonstrates the ability to successfully work with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and skillfully handle conflict.

Professional Requirements:

Adheres to dress code.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Maintains regulatory requirements.

Wears identification while on duty.

Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Attends department staff meetings as required within the department.

Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time.

Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Coordinates efforts in meeting regulatory compliance, federal, state and local regulations and standards

Communicates and complies with the Benefis Health System Mission, Vision and Values as well as the focus statement of the department.

Complies with Benefis Health System Organization Policies and Procedures.

Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.

Nationally Certified Technician and State licensure or ability to obtain.

Experience in 340B program operations with certification preferred.

Experience in business & financial analysis, planning & project management experience, preferred.
