Position Summary

Position responsible for maintaining and coordinating the service schedule for non-surgical areas. Monitors and schedules all outpatient cases. Records all pertinent information into the scheduling book for pre-procedure phone calls and references. Maintains good rapport and working relations with internal and external customers. This position may verify insurance eligibility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: One-year experience as a Surgery Scheduler in an acute care hospital required.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Must have knowledge of basic mathematics. Requires considerable logic and understanding to analyze problem and determine course of action. Proficient at interpersonal relationships. Reads, writes and orally communicates at a level to correctly explain information. Must have the ability to operate a telephone, computer, copy machine, and fax machine as required. Requires attention to detail. Works regularly with confidential information. Must be familiar with medical terminology. Bi-lingual preferred.

The requirements of this position go beyond scheduling cases, you will be on the phone with our physician customers as well as face to face in the department. A level of customer services and understanding of patient privacy is a top priority.
