DESCRIPTION OF POSITION & PURPOSE: (Briefly summarize the position�s purpose or role in the Corporation, essential job functions and resulting efficiencies)

The Market Director of clinical informatics and education is a leadership position that aligns the group with information systems (IS), education and clinical operations at the enterprise level. The director is a liaison accountable at the group level for maintaining standards, achieving clinical metrics using data, and advancing clinical education and IS initiatives consistent with the goals and objectives outlined by executive leaders.

The market director is responsible for executing Tenet�s organizational educational strategic plan and serving as a leader, mentor, consultant, and subject matter expert regarding education regulations and standards. The market director plans, revises, implements, monitors, and evaluates education programs and activities for the Tenet Market across all clinical disciplines.

The director provides guidance and direction in the implementation of clinical applications and the support of clinical projects, initiatives, and changes to the EMR. The director will influence change at the market level to improve end user clinical knowledge, patient care expertise and documentation associated with the EMR.

In this role the director oversees market and facility clinical educators and clinical informaticists and the coordination of educational activities, IT projects and initiatives. The market director will promote collaboration within the team as well as with other department directors and organizational leaders to provide noteworthy support to the market.

The market director will be a liaison and advocate for the group and represent the CI and education group on national calls as needed. The director will provide mentorship and guidance to the hospital educators and clinical informaticist to ensure they are fulfilling their role as education and informatics subject matter experts with maximum effectiveness. The director has a direct report to the group CNO and a dotted line report to the RCID and national educator.

The director demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ensures that communications are clear, concise, timely and align with organization and group imperatives. The market director role is accountable for improving end user satisfaction, maintaining standards, meeting performance metrics, and improving overall end user satisfaction with education and informatics service and support.



Qualifications:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Please describe the minimum education, technical training and/or experience required to perform this job (formal education, relevant work experience, ability to perform specific tasks, certification, skills, etc.).

  • Required: Current RN license
  • Required: Masterâ��s degree in nursing or must be enrolled and completed within 6 months of hire. Exceptions to education requirements may be approved by group CNO.
  • Required: 3 years of experience in clinical informatics, with 3 years in a multi-hospital organization in support and optimization of electronic patient records (EHR) using corporate-wide standards. Experience with major acute care EHR vendors (i.e. Cerner, Epic, Meditech) a plus. Teaching and staff development experience preferred.
  • Preferred: Certification in nursing informatics with ANCC. Must obtain certification within the first year.
  • Proven ability to develop, maintain and collaborate with multi-disciplinary leaders
  • Demonstrated knowledge in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking
  • Understanding of clinical workflow, hospital operations and technology integration into clinical practice
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills required
  • Must serve as a model of credibility, professionalism, and customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, be innovative and lead change
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office products and EMR application(s)
