You Will Be Responsible For:
Develops individualized, result-oriented plan of care in cooperation with client and referring physician.
Provides formal and informal instruction in rehabilitation. Focuses on pulmonary and cardiac anatomy and physiology, proper nutrition, medication usage, physical retraining and lifestyle modification.
Monitors tri-weekly Phase II and Phase III cardiac and pulmonary exercise sessions. Assesses patient status via telemetry, blood pressure checks and pulse oximetry.
Addresses patient and family concerns. Answers questions concerning recovery potential and program protocol.
Motivates and guides the rehabilitation process. Modifies patient program according to individual progress or lack there of; Recognizes and appropriately responds to any changes in patient condition resulting from the disease process and/or induced by exercise
Markets program and recruits rehab clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings; Makes referrals as needed to relevant hospital and/or community programs.
Performs insurance verifications and schedules patients for program.
Completes medical record and intradepartmental documentation; Reconciles financial aspects of the Wellness program. Collects monthly payment and co-pays indicated and oversees program charges.
Responds to emergency situations promptly and appropriately. Recognizes and reports significant arrhythmia, respiratory distress and other acute changes. Performs BLS according to American Heart Association guidelines.
Assists with the development of cardiac and pulmonary rehab policies and procedures
Participates in hospital-sponsored health fairs and Department projects.
What You Will Need:
Graduate of an approved educational program in Respiratory Therapy OR hold a degree in exercise physiology
A total of three years of hospital experience is required with one year in Cardiac and Pulmonary rehab preferred.Must document clinical proficiency by successfully completing initial orientation and competency assessment.
Current Florida Registered RCP and RRT or Masters in Exercise Physiology
Certification or equivalent in 12-lead EKG and telemetry monitoring
Certification in BLS and ACLS
Assists with implementation of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation inpatient and outpatient programs for the adult and geriatric patient population. Achieves optimal recovery and promotes life-long wellness through exercise and education. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
