Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses our full service cafeteria and New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous recreational activities including an in-ground swimming pool, game room, playground, basketball courts, and gymnasium. The multi-disciplinary staff at Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided are clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among all treatment disciplines. Laurel Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have multiple challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have a primary psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring conditions such as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or physical/sexual abuse victimization. Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is currently seeking an experience Cook. The Cook will:
Review menus to determine type and quantities of meats and vegetables to be prepared.
Prepare washing, trimming, cooking, and seasoning of food items for each meal.
Measure and mixes ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish and other foods.
Test food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and/or piercing to determine that it is cooked.
Adjust heat controls and timers on ovens, grills, etc., as required.
Procure foodstuffs from refrigerator, freezer or other storage area.
Carve portions of meats, fish and fowl for individual serving units.Apportions servings according to menu combinations or orders for patients.
Provide assistance on the serving line such as tray set-up, salad preparation, etc.
Deliver food to units with correct diet and within adequate temperature ranges.Carefully follows directions and serves only food specified on modified diets.
Assist in the preparation, setup, and lean up of food for special functions as defined by Dietary Manager or designee.
