The City of Berkeley is now accepting applications for Supervising Public Health Nurse. This is the supervisory and highest level in the professional public health nursing class series with responsibility for nursing program planning, development, implementation, direction, supervision and evaluation.
The Supervising Public Health Nurse for the Family Health and Nursing Services coordinates and supervises the operation of health-related services which may include Targeted Case Management (TCM), Maternal Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH), Communicable Disease and other programs involving comprehensive case management, education, prevention, and collaboration with and coordination of community resources. These services are delivered by a team of professional and paraprofessional staff that collaborate to ensure comprehensive health services are provided throughout the City of Berkeley. The supervisor uses principles of reflective practice and staff development to provide primary support and appropriate oversight to the nurse home visitors to build and model a strengths-based client-centered culture.
To qualify, you must possess the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing, with major course work in nursing. You must also possess four (4) years of general public health nursing experience with involvement in project leadership, or program planning which included one (1) year of lead-level experience. A master's degree in public health or public health nursing is desirable.
Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License and a valid California State Public Health Nursing Certificate. Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, must maintain a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work evenings or weekends.
